THE SEVENTH ANNUAL SOKOL FARRELL GOLF SCRAMBLE

THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER!

There were ominous forecasts of rain and even hail... but the forecasts were all wrong; the “golf Gods” were with us AGAIN and the weather turned out to be ideal golfing weather.  Large puffy clouds blocked the sun from time to time and there was a nice breeze to keep things just perfect.  The second Saturday in June had, for the seventh straight year been kind to us with ideal golfing weather.  All of our golfers were present and accounted for... and we were ready to begin golfing at 9:00 AM.         

Shenango Lake Golf Club in nearby Transfer was suddenly awhirl with activity.  Tim Brandt, our President and Chairman of the outing began giving instructions... our Sokol workers began all the registration and food preparations... and everything went according to plan. A total of 27 teams had entered… in all 108 golfers were lined up and ready to go to their positions for the “shot gun” start.  

As usual, there were refreshments placed strategically at certain holes on the course, hot dogs (with Tim’s homemade chili sauce) and refreshments at the turn, and a huge steak complete with all the trimmings at the end.

 Top prize was $800, the second place team took home $400 and the third place team received $200.  As they have done since the very beginning of our “scrambles”, Bro Mel Slezak and Sister Dorothy Slezak sponsored the $5,000 Hole-in-One prize for the 3rd Hole.


It goes without question that we could not have done this without the leadership of Bro. Tim Brandt and our great committee: Sherry Brandt; Lodge Financial Secretary Rachel Bender, Melvin Slezak, Dorothy Slezak, Lodge Vice President Sasha Banjak. Gymnastic Directors Stephen Banjak and Amanda Michael, as well as newly elected Treasurer, Sally Glover and her husband Dick, Chris Pegg, Peggy Slezak, Val Hurst-Tamura, Sadie and Janel Brandt, Lili and Ava Glover, Juliann Hurst-Tamura and Alex Banjak.    THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING THIS “OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL OUTING YET!!!
